To improve resiliency to extreme heat, the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) established a new tree-planting initiative as part of the Water Smart Landscapes rebate program. Participants can receive a bonus of $100 for every new tree installed (up to 100% canopy coverage).

To be eligible for the Tree Enhancement Program, customers must be current participants in the Water Smart Landscape Program. The program requires installation of new living trees selected from the Southern Nevada Regional Plant List.

Each tree must have a minimum canopy value of 236-square feet, which is at least 20-foot canopy at maturity. To view full specifications and requirements, please visit SNWA’s website HERE.

Trees require less water than grass while offers significant benefits to the community, such as shade and lowered ground temperatures, adding more trees remains a community-wide initiative.
