According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) October 2022 economic report, Nevada added 7,500 jobs over the month, the third-largest monthly increase over the past year. Employment remains 22,200 jobs higher than before the pandemic and is up 55,500 jobs since October 2021, an annual increase of 3.9%. The total employment level in the state is 1,471,800.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Nevada increased slightly in October from 4.4 percent to 4.6 percent, and decreased by 0.8 percentage point from 5.4 percent in 2021, seasonally adjusted. The slightly increase mirroring the increase in the U.S. unemployment rate from 3.5 to 3.7 percent.
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Employment (Seasonally Adjusted):
- Las Vegas employment increased by 4,900 jobs (0.5%) since September, an increase of 46,300 jobs (4.5%) since October 2021.
- Reno employment had a decrease of 500 jobs (-0.2%) since September, an increase of 7,300 jobs (2.9%) since October 2021.
- Carson City employment had an increase of 100 jobs (0.3%) since September, an increase of 800 jobs (2.6%) since October 2021.
