Las Vegas Black Small Businesses Receive $5,000 Grant from Coalition to Back Black Businesses

To date, the coalition has awarded more than $8.1 million to 1,414 Black small business owners. Collectively, 65% of those are woman owned.

Coalition to Back Black Business (CBBB) announced that it awarded $1.62 million in grants ($5,000 each) to 324 Black small business owners across 34 states, including recipients in Las Vegas. The coalition a multi-year grant-making and mentorship initiative founded in 2020 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation with a $10 million commitment from American Express to to address the needs of businesses impacted by the pandemic and support their long term growth.

Seventy percent of this round of grantees have fewer than five employees and 72% have been in business for less than five years. Seventy percent of the grantees are women.

The Las Vegas grant recipients are:

  • Exprezzo, an affiliate Travel & Entertainment booking app, focused on helping the transportation and hospitality industry workers to make extra revenue
  • A local hairstylist who mentors the youth in her community
  • Shewins Bookkeeping Service, an accounting and tax firm that caters to start-up and small and medium size businesses

To date, the CBBB has awarded more than $8.1 million in grant dollars to 1,414 Black small business owners. Collectively, 65% of those are woman owned.
