LAS VEGAS – Shannon Petersen, EVP and executive director of commercial banking for Nevada State Bank, was selected as a member of the 2022-2023 International Women’s Forum Fellows Program. In its 29th year, the class is the largest in the program’s history and includes 44 highly accomplished women from diverse backgrounds leading change in Afghanistan, Bahamas, Canada, China, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, United States and, for the first time, the Palestinian Territories and Ukraine. Their backgrounds include corporate, government, nonprofit, academic, and entrepreneurial sectors.

The International Women’s Forum (IWF) invests in its mission of advancing women’s leadership and championing equality worldwide through its Fellows Program, which provides an intensive leadership development experience designed to accelerate the potential of the next generation of women leaders.

“We are incredibly proud that Shannon is participating in the program with so many other amazing women from around the world,” said Terry Shirey, president and CEO of Nevada State Bank. “Being part of this class gives Shannon an invaluable opportunity to connect with and learn from peers and leaders. Participating in a program of this caliber allows for lifelong connections to be made that can have a significant impact on Shannon’s leadership opportunities and growth.”

The 2022-2023 Leadership Fellows begin their journey at a three-day program orientation and joined the IWF 2022 World Leadership Conference and Gala in early November. They’ll convene again for in-person professional development sessions at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, and Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The program also includes virtual meetings, personalized feedback and advice, and work on an individual legacy project to apply and extend their knowledge for their organization’s or community’s benefit.

“It is honor to be selected by the company,” Petersen said. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to further develop my leadership skills while learning and being mentored by the most brilliant and successful women around the world.”

The International Women’s Forum is an invitation-only network of the most accomplished women in the world. IWF connects women leaders across every professional sector in support of each other and the common mission of advancing women’s leadership and championing equality worldwide. Established in New York City in 1974, today IWF is comprised of over 7,500 preeminent women leaders in 33 countries. IWF is the only organization of this scale that builds significant relationships between C-level women from every sector across the globe.
