A 2022 report by Stacker ranks Nevada as the No. 1 state with the biggest solar economy. Stacker analyzed data collected by the Solar Energy Industries Association and Bureau of Labor Statistics and ranked the states by the number of solar jobs per 1,000 in the non-farm sector.

Nevada has 4.5 solar jobs per 1,000 non-farm jobs and 4,244.9 total megawatts installed. Total number of installations is 75,379. In 2010, Nevada’s Silver State North Star Project was the first-ever approved solar project on public lands.

In June 2021, Governor Sisolak signed Senate Bill 448, which will accelerate transmission development, renewable energy and storage, and Nevada’s clean energy economy. In addition, the Governor signed Senate Bill 430 to invest $75 million into the State Infrastructure Bank to improve infrastructure projects throughout the state.

274-Megawatt Arrow Canyon Solar Project

NV Energy is building the the 1,387-acre Arrow Canyon Solar Project, 20 miles northeast of Las Vegas. This 274-megawatt (MW) solar project includes a 91 MW-5hr battery storage project.

When fully operational in December 2022, Arrow Canyon will generate enough clean energy to meet the consumption of up to 76,000 average Nevada homes. This is equivalent to avoiding more than 632,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.

“Nevada leads the nation in terms of solar production and we’re going to continue to bring all the stakeholders to the table to ensure we are protecting our environment, combating climate change and creating good-paying union jobs for our clean energy economy,” said Gov. Sisolak.
