Over 200 Southern Nevada business and community leaders attended the luncheon, met with officers and learned about the latest technology advancements in public safety:

  • 3D scanning that captures up to 2 million data points per second to create a 3D rendering of a scene;
  • robots designed to respond to chemical, biological, radiological, explosive and nuclear incidents and used by SWAT;
  • Automated License Plater Reader (ALPR) technology utilizing a Smartphone to capture license plate images in the field;
  • drones used by law enforcement from monitoring suspects to crime scene investigation and analyzing accident scenes;
  • and Brinc Lemur S, a new kind of robot that has the ability to fly indoors, break glass, scale stairs, conduct two-way communications with a suspect, and flip over after crashes.

The LVMPD Foundation launched the 100 Club, a new membership program open to individuals and business leaders who want to support public safety. “The “100” signifies the LVMPD Sheriff call sign and the club is designed to cultivate long-term investment and supplement LVMPD area commands, special units, technology, and training,” said Tom Kovach, Executive Director of the LVMPD Foundation.
