Karl Maisner, president of Las Vegas-based design studio KMJ, was recently voted to the board of the Children’s Advocacy Center Foundation (CACF).

CACF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and its mission is to “help and heal children and their families who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect.” In many cases, Maisner explains, families are broken up for the safety of the abuse victim. This can increase financial stress and make it harder for those involved to gain access to certain basic needs. CACF addresses these direct needs. In November 2020, the foundation launched its Community Closet and Food Pantry to provide food, clothing, hygiene products, and more, to victims of abuse. Through its Vegas Heals program, the CACF provides access to a continuum of mental health care for child abuse victims and their families.

“The Children’s Advocacy Center helped more than 1,800 children last year and I want to help them grow so they can do even more for Southern Nevada,” Maisner added. “I do love working with nonprofits and bettering the community that has given my small company so much. Community work a big part of what we do.”

Through its unique public-private partnership with Clark County, the foundation also continuously seeks out program service gaps to fill with evidence-based services, assesses community needs, and even fundraises for the Clark County-run Southern Nevada Children’s Advocacy Center (SNCAC).
